Emily Blunt Meet YSL

Yves Saint Laurent is popping up in the news again. Recently, Yves Saint Laurent has been getting a lot of publicity. Said publicity is due to the lawsuit against the fashion house surrounding the red sole controversy filed by Christian Louboutin back in August. (If you want read more about the legal issue refer to our promgirl.net news article, http://news.promgirl.net/?p=394 . And if that’s not enough for you check out our promgirl.net blog at http://blog.promgirl.net/?p=822 !) This time Yves Saint Laurent is in the news for better reasons, they have announced their new face of their classic perfume, Opium. And, drum roll please…Emily Blunt, the sweet Brit actress. Emily Blunt is rather well-known as she has performed alongside some great actors like Matt Damon, in the more recent film, The Adjustment Bureau, and legend Anthony Hopkins in, The Wolfman. However, Emily’s big splash into Hollywood was with one of America’s greatest actresses, Meryl Streep in the fashion conscious flick, The Devil Wears Prada. And speaking of fashion, Ms. Blunt is always commended for her great red carpet looks. Emily is flawless in Marchesa, stunning in Dolce & Gabbana, absolutely gorgeous in Eli Saab, and now Ms. Blunt is trying Yves Saint Laurent on for size. The size, as described by Renaud de Lesquen, president of YSL will, “unveil a fiery, almost reckless woman with magnetic seduction, that nobody or nothing can resist.” Intriguing…

The ad campaign for YSL’s Opium, has been announced to make its launch sometime next month (in October 2011). Unfortunately, YSL has taken some heat in the past for their Opium ads. The broadcasting companies hope the adorable Emily Blunt will not stir up as much controversy as in the past. The first controversy hit in 2000 when the ASA – Advertising Standards Authority – banned their ads staring Sophie Dahl with not too much on but the perfume, and the second time around for, “running her finger down her inner arm could be seen to simulate the injection of opiates into the body,” said the ASA, deeming the ad “irresponsible and unacceptable for broadcast.”

Let’s just hope YSL keeps it classy. As I am sure John Kraskinski (Mr. Emily Blunt) also hopes.
